Leavetakings

Characters: Katia Santiago

Katia took one last glance around her quarters on the Phoenix. The Rangers had granted her leave request, and as far as they knew, she was only going to be gone for a week at the most. And so she stood, glancing around her, memorizing every detail of the room, half afraid she would not be returning from what many would call this fool mission of hers. As she turned to leave, she realized there was someone she needed to at least notify that she was leaving.

Quickly she opened up a channel to Minbar. She stared at the screen for a second, collecting her thoughts, wondering what she was going to say without giving away her intentions. The one she was contacting would know where she intended on going.

“Dunstan,” she began, “I just wanted to let you know that I am leaving to take care of that business we had discussed a few weeks ago. I am sorry I have not been the best of friends and contacted you more of late, but my mind has been tied up with the repairs on the Phoenix and my plans for this excursion. I know you understand what I am referring to, and can also understand why I have been so distant of late. I should not be gone long, and will let you know when I return,” she continued with a smile, “hopefully with the package of those held dear. Please take care, my friend. I have been worried for you, feeling somehow that there is something going on that is troubling you, but also knowing that some of this you need to work through on your own. So, until I return, just realize you are held close to my heart. Goodbye, my friend.”

With that, she sent the message to Kordieh and quick left her quarters, walking through the Phoenix with purpose and not looking back.
